FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday to Celebrate 65th Independence Anniversary
The federal government has announced Wednesday, 1st October 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Minister of Interior Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the declaration on behalf of the government, extending heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians at home and abroad on this landmark day.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister encouraged citizens to uphold the patriotism, unity, and resilience that have defined Nigeria since 1960.
He called on Nigerians to remain committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on national rejuvenation, economic progress, and shared prosperity.
Minister Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism that with nationwide cooperation, Nigeria will continue advancing in peace, development, and growth.
He wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration in 2025.
