INEC Declares APC’s Maikalangu winner of AMAC Chairmanship With 40,295 Voted out of 62, 861 valid votes cast to secure victory.

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship election.

 

Announcing the result in Abuja, the AMAC Collation Officer, Professor Andrew Abue, said Maikalangu, who is the incumbent chairman, polled 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast to secure victory.

 

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, came second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, scored 3,398 votes.

 

INEC said 65,197 votes were cast in total, with 2,336 rejected ballots. Out of 837,338 registered voters, 65,676 were accredited for the election.

 

Party agents from the APC and other political parties described the election and collation process as transparent and credible.

Maikalangu is expected to begin a new term as AMAC chairman following the official declaration.
