CSO Call Tinubu to Ban Government Officials from Sending Kids Abroad for Education

The Director General of the Civil Society Campaign Council For Tinubu/Shettima 2027, Rt. Comrade Emmanuel Johnny,  has called on the National Assembly and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to initiate a bill prohibiting government officials from sending their children abroad for education. Johnny views this practice as a major driver of greed and corruption in Nigeria, stating that officials who educate their children overseas are often more corrupt and greedy, putting the country’s future at risk.

He emphasized that allowing officials to send their children abroad for education creates opportunities for illicit financial flows and undermines Nigeria’s educational System and national development. “It’s a paradox that most of those entrusted with governing Nigeria are investing in foreign education systems while our own institutions struggle,” Johnny said. “This practice fuels corruption, as officials including security agents, Directors in government’s institutions among others seek to secure foreign education for their children at any cost.”

Comrade Johnny argued that the move would promote transparency and accountability in governance, encouraging officials to prioritize Nigeria’s education system. “If leaders invest in Nigeria’s schools, they’re more likely to ensure quality education for all,” he added.

The CSO leader urged fellow citizens to support the push, stressing that Nigeria’s development hinges on tackling systemic issues like this. He called for swift action on the proposed bill, emphasizing that Nigeria’s future is at stake if leaders continue to prioritize personal and their interests over national progress.
