Adeyanju Demands Return of Slain Teacher’s Body, Calls for Scholarships for Rescued Oyo School children
Deji Adeyanju Human Rights Lawyer has commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and the security agencies, and everyone whose efforts contributed to the safe release of the abducted school pupils and their teachers. Their return is a great relief to their families and to all Nigerians who stood in hope and prayer throughout this difficult period.
While we celebrate this welcome development, I call on the relevant authorities to provide clarity on the whereabouts of the body of the teacher who was reportedly killed during the unfortunate incident, so that the family can be given the opportunity to accord their loved one a dignified burial.
Beyond securing their release, it is imperative that government prioritise the rehabilitation and psychosocial support of the rescued pupils and teachers. The traumatic experience they have endured should not be overlooked. I also urge the government to provide scholarships for the affected pupils up to the university level as a meaningful investment in their future and as a demonstration of the nation’s commitment to their welfare.
He prayed that may the unfortunate incident further strengthen Nigeria’s resolve to improve security across the country and ensure that no child is ever deprived of a safe learning environment again.
