The former chief security officer to the late head of state and commander in chief of Armed forces of Nigeria late general Sani Abacha GCON, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd)has appealed to Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and class to come together as one inorder to flush out political opportunists and some unpatriotic elements at the positions of authority responsible for bad governance, the Nguru born former Presidential candidate of the Action Alliance made this call when a strong delegation from the youth literacy and social empowerment foundation led by it board of trustees chairman Dr Olusegun Adeleye paid him a birthday visit inorder to felicitate with him. Major Al-Mustapha said that some self centered and corrupt leaders have brought Nigeria to where it is today lacking in security, power supply, healthcare, peace, employment, unity, infrastructure, engulfed in economic hardship, poor educational system, and other vices militating against us. Emphasising that this was not the Nigeria the previous military administrations left particularly the Abacha administration that built the largest estate in Africa the Gwarinpa housing estate, initiated vision 2010,national economic intelligence committee, failed bank tribunal, built the biggest hospital which is now the national hospital, ensured uninterrupted security, helped Sierra Leone to retrieve power from military junta back to democratically elected government of Tejan Kabbah, established ministry of women affairs, empowered the youths and made a course for their direction and others too numerous to mention. He said the time is now for all Nigerians to act through the ballot box as election approaches in 2027, not only talking can change it but electoral action because our present crop of political leaders at all levels have taken us for granted by depriving us of basic needs as required in any democratic setup. Many of these opportunist political leaders only care about themselves which goes contrary to why we elected them. Every political leader must have the interest of the people at heart. Therefore, the remedy to this menace is for us to rally round and support only qualitative candidates with proven integrity, pedigree and personality and not the bad types with wealth stolen from coffers of the government. In his words,Dr Adeleye eulogized the outstanding and immense contribution of the AA Presidential candidate on human capacity building, youth empowerment and unity of the country, which according to him informed the august visit. Dr Adeleye also recalled and reminded Major Al-Mustapha how he touched his life as a student in the eighties while he was a lieutenant in the Army and chief intelligence officer to late General Abacha then as the chief of Army staff, emphasising that the gesture reshaped his future as the funds given to him paved way for his educational attainment today. The visitation was concluded with a cautionary and patriotic words of advise from Major AlMustapha (rtd) who further implored the entire members of the youth literacy and social empowerment foundation to believe in what they are out to do and must not deviate from their mandate,as Nigeria needs groups like this at this material time to educate, enlighten and rightly inform Nigerians on norms, standards and the need to fight for their rights peacefully. A vote of thanks was given by the foundation’s national publicity secretary,Comrade Salihu Dantata Mahmud who said that there exists a distinguished class of dignitaries in the Military,Police, private sector and the civil service but it is not all that possess the credibility of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd) going by his positive antecedents which cuts across human capacity building, security and intelligence network which made him one of the best intelligence officers Nigeria ever produced in the military,he prayed for sound health, longlife and Allah’s protection for him.
