INEC FIXES FEB 20, March 6 For 2027 General Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has formally issued notice for the 2027 general election, announcing that Presidential and National Assembly polls will hold on February 20, 2027, while Governorship and State Assembly elections are scheduled for March 6, 2027.

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan made the disclosure at a news conference in Abuja, when he outlined the details of the dates  ahead of 2027general election.

Amupitan noted that while it had already made submissions to lawmakers regarding the proposed amendments, certain aspects of the timetable could be adjusted depending on when the Electoral Act is eventually passed.

The Commission assured stakeholders that preparations are ongoing to ensure a seamless and credible 2027 electoral process.
