FG DECLARES WAR ON TERROR, VOWS TO RESCUE ABDUCTED SCHOOLCHILDREN

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of all abducted schoolchildren and teachers across the country.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave the assurance during a joint security briefing in Abuja, saying the safety of every Nigerian child remains a top priority of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister described the recent abductions in Oyo and Borno States as attacks on the nation’s future, stressing that the government will not relent until the victims are safely reunited with their families.

He disclosed that security agencies have intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance operations, and rescue missions in affected areas.

According to him, President Tinubu has also approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen security around vulnerable communities and forests.

Mohammed Idris said troops are recording significant successes against terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers in various parts of the country, especially in the North-East and North-West.

He noted that several criminal hideouts have been destroyed, while many suspects have been arrested and victims rescued through coordinated operations.

The Minister further highlighted ongoing terrorism prosecutions, describing recent convictions of terror suspects as a major step in the fight against insecurity.

Speaking on behalf of security agencies, Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Anthony Okoh Placid, assured Nigerians that operational and intelligence assets have been fully deployed to tackle emerging threats nationwide.

The Federal Government called on citizens to remain vigilant, support security agencies with credible information, and unite against terrorism, insisting that national security is a collective responsibility.
