Oodua Integrity Group Calls For Establishment Of Mopol Squadron In Shiya,Baruten Local Government Area Of Kwara State To Tackle Insurgency.

The Oodua integrity group has commended the inspector general of Police Tunji Disu on recording of successes against kidnapping,banditry and insurgency in Kwara state.Ajayi Olawale the security liaison of the group made this known during an interactive session to advocate for the immediate establishment of a Mopol squadron in Shiya under Baruten local government area of Kwara state.

The group emphasised that it has become necessary due to how fleeing non state actors uses the Shiya Benin republic border area through Sendiro to escape to either Burkina Faso or Mali.

The group also implored the inspector general of Police to sustain his earlier directive that no Police should be involved in impunity which has made the Kwara state Police command to live up to expectation by making officers of the command not to continue their tormenting of some Shiya people framed up on the chieftaincy issue through incessant arrests but now put to rest.

The bold initiative of the IG is commendable and deserve emulation.Shiya community is blessed with agriculture and also serves as a link between Nigeria and the Benin republic.And it could also be recalled that it almost experienced chaos when the chieftaincy tussle later resolved lingered on.

The inspector general of Police can also visit that part of the country or at best delegate any of his deputies to carryout visibility studies.Insecurity in the country must also be tackled through the establishment of permanent security structures to respond to invasion by terrorists because there exists alot of ungoverned spaces in the country.
